Delta Vision Elite Repair in Canada

Hello,
I am aware a forum concerning this topic was started last year. I don’t want to bring up the same issues about lack of service support, etc. I am looking for alternatives sources to diagnose and potentially repair DV issues, considering how hard is to get a response from Leica. I am in Canada, so I was hoping someone in the country that came across this issue would be able to advise. Any former API/GE technician that offers their service on the side?

Thanks

What issues are you running into? I have some experience with fixing DVs (currently have two running). Happy to help and share info

Hello,

Thank you for answer my SOS call and apologies for the delay in replying, just saw this now.
The issue is during booting of the Linux computer. The startup has some hiccups that prevent it uploading CentOS. It seems to be trying to boot through UEFI, fails to load CentOS from the harddrive and enters this cycle of shutting off and re-starting. If I force it to leave to BIOS during startup, I can fix the settings so it starts to load correctly from the hard drive, that bring up CentOS and the system works file after that. No issues with the ICMIC unit, I can collect images and use Softworxs normally. But then next time I re-start the system, the problem resumes even despite the fact I saved the correct setting in BIOS. The Leica tech thinks this could be because the CMOS battery in the Linux is shot. I am trying to do some digging to know how I can access the mother board to change the CMOS, but without success so far. No one seems to have the drawings showing where it is. The workstation is not easy to manhandle, being fixed to the metal frame, so I am at a loss of where to start (front? back?). It’s a bit frustrating. Anyways, if you have any guesses, I would be all ears. Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Carlos

Hello,

Thank you for offering help in this post. I am also a DeltaVision Elite user experiencing a connection issue. I would appreciate any answers or suggestions from you. Here is a brief description of the error.

  1. The blue IC/MIC bottom can not be turned off by a quick click and can only be turned off by holding for >10s.
  2. The softWoRx shown “Unable to connect to the microscope controller” or “Connection with the instrument controller failed” after opening.
  3. The instrument controller could not be restarted and keeped loading (the small logo bouncing). If I run the script from terminal, it shows the microscope IP address can not be found. Therefore the microscope can not be connected to the control system.

One possible reason caused this problem is that I didn’t log out of the system before turning off the IC/MIC bottom. I am hoping that this mistake could not damage to the system.

Looking forward to your suggestion. Thanks for any help.

Hello Lanxin,

Sorry to hear you are also experience issues with your DV system. I am no expert to give you advice, but it seems like a software/connection issue. I have had a few similar error in the past where the linux computer couldn’t detect the IC/MIC during the startup that a were resolved by just re-starting the system. What I would suggest to you is to contact Chloe van Oostende-Triplet at OttawaU (https://www.uottawa.ca/research-innovation/cell-biology-image-acquisition/about) at cbiacore@uottawa.ca. Chloe has much more experience running and maintaining their Delta Vision that I do with my. She might know what is going on with your system.

Good luck! I know it’s a pretty desperate place to be in when there is essentially no clear technical support available anymore.

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Thank you for your prompt response. I restarted the system multiple times, but the error message persists. I’ll reach out to Chloe for assistance—thank you for sharing her contact. I’ll keep you updated once the issue is resolved.

It’s disappointing that their technical support was suddenly discontinued, but I appreciate your efforts in supporting the user community.

Best,
Lanxin

There are screws holding the computer in the roller tray, once removed the computer slides out and is just like a regular computer to open up. Could your hard drive be failing? I recommend making a clone before doing any surgery.
