HI Microscopy Community!
As background, we have to send our DFC9000 camera for our Leica DMi8 to be fixed due to condensation on the detector, and are looking at other options for running the system whilst the camera is away (it will take ~3 to 4 months). We are looking at other solutions for how we can keep the DMi8 running, but all the cameras that are listed as compatible with the software are too expensive for us to buy at the moment.
Looking at the availble drivers in the LAS-X folder, I found IDS mentioned in the CameraLoader file, a folder of IDS camera drivers in the camera_driver folder, specifically for the uEye range, and installation files. If an IDS uEye camera works within LAS-X, this would be an attractive option for us as they’re within our price range and can be delivered quickly.
Before buying one, I wanted to ask whether anyone had tried to use a camera with drivers present in the folder but not officially listed as compatible, and what their experience had been? The LAS-X software version that we’re using is 3.7.6.25997
We’re happy to run the microscope along with whichever camera we buy through MicroManager if this doesn’t work, but it’s obviously more comfortable for users who are used to the LAS-X software if we can keep controlling everything through LAS-X.
Thanks for any help anyone can give with this!
