Resealing Scientific Camera

Hi everyone,

Was wondering if anyone ever tried to redo a seal on a scientific camera here.

I have a couple of cameras that show signs of condensation, I’m assuming the seal started to leak.

I know some manufacturers offer the resealing as a service but some of the cameras I have are quite old and discontinued. I have access to a glove-box under argon atmosphere (slightly over pressured from what I was told but I was not given the exact value).

My thought was I could try to open the camera and figure out how they made the seal (possibly an o-ring) and find a suitable replacement seal (o-ring) and then perform the exchange under argon atmosphere.

I am also assuming most of those cameras are rather filled with a gas as opposed to using vacuum but correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m looking to hearing from other people’s experience. In my case, I would be particularly interested if your experience is with a famous Japanese manufacturer :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for your help and take care,
